restaurant spotlight – brenda’s french soul food

Last month Drew and I went on our honeymoon.  We drove up the California coast and I will eventually post about all the fun we had along the way.  However, one of the highlights of our trip was a brunch stop at Brenda’s French Soul Food in San Francisco.  I love beignets and when I found out that there was a highly regarded southern food place in SF near our hotel, we just had to check it out.  It did not disappoint.

First: we tried their beignet flight, which was one of each plain, apple, and crawfish beignet.  The crawfish was the best!

For our entries, Drew picked the banana foster french toast.  It was soooo delicious!  You can tell by his look :p  I picked the croque monsieur.  It wasn’t as good as the french toast, but that might be just because I have a super huge sweet tooth.  The cheesy was perfectly ooey.

All in all, it was a great find.  If you get the chance, definitely check it out.  It’s busy though!  We were there on a wednesday morning and there was still a 20 minute wait.
