New York Part 2

August 30, 2011 § 5 Comments

Our third day in New York started nicely enough with a walk through Greenwich Village followed by lunch at the lovely ABC Kitchen.  Then, it rained.  All day.  We stayed most of the afternoon in Barnes & Noble.  By nightime, we ventured out again to Chelsea Market for some food, where I highly recommend Green Table.  My salad was delicious!  The next day, we stopped by Grand Central, but the highlight was Billy Elliot on Broadway.  It was fabulous.  If it comes on tour through LA, I would love to see it again.  Every now and then I’ll get the melody to Electricity stuck in my head.  That was a fitting end to my sister’s stay in New York :)  Other highlights include Highline Park, which if I lived in New York, I would go to all the time.  So pretty there!  Drew and I had one day in the city so in the morning we grabbed some brunch at a place I can’t remember now, and in the afternoon, we went to Central Park!  I didn’t have much interest in going there initially, as I figured it was just a park.  But, I’m really glad we went, it’s such an oasis in the city.  At night, we caught a showing of Avenue Q and afterwards stopped by Times Square.  The next day, we left….5 hours after our scheduled departure time :p  All in all, it was the most fabulous trip and I can’t wait until we go back!  I’m not sure it’s a place I would want to live (the weather is so much better here!), but I can visit a thousand times!

I’m enjoying your trip pictures! Makes me wish I was there with you! How did your camera bag work out? Are these pictures with your new camera? What camera did you get?

Hi Victoria! Are you going to the 5 year reunion? If you are, then I’ll have to seriously consider going cuz you’re probably the person I haven’t seen in the longest time! The camera bag worked great! I only took my 35mm f1.8 so I could use the pocket that’s normally for an extra lens for my sunglasses and wallet and stuff. We also walked through the rain quite a bit, and the camera stayed dry :)
I ended up with the D7000 so all these pics are taken with the new camera. Even though I really really want the D700, it’s just not worth the money right now and I would have had to get new lenses. I really love the D7000, it’s such a step up from the D80!

You both better come to the reunion!!! p.s. I like your blog. A lot :)

      • An says:

thanks, Katie! I think it’s highly likely for us to come, especially since my family lives so close :)

      • Victoria says:

Yay! I’m happy you stuck with Nikon, but I may be a bit biased. :)

I was originally planning on being in England during the 5 year reunion, but we decided to change our plans, possibly for the following year. I don’t know if I’ll be going to the reunion yet though. I need to look into the timing of things and the price of flights/hotels. I’d love to go though! And yes I really want to see you soon, it’s been way too long! I really want to take Jesse to Alaska and he also wants to do Seattle and I’ve always wanted to go to San Francisco and his uncle lives in San Diego, so maybe we’ll make a West Coast trip sometime soon(ish)! :) (We need money first)

P.S. I also *might* be going to the Lou next month!
